We LOVE indigo… Chinese indigo (NANKEEN), African indigo, any sort of indigo. INDIGO…was originated in India, who supplied it to the Greeks and Romans, where it was valued as a luxury product. Indigo
is among the oldest dyes to be used for textile dying.
I travel to Asia monthly to handpick textiles from the native Hmong tribe... some new, some old... all exquisite in texture & color.
Stuck in the 70's ... the music, the freedom, the simplicity of the time … Growing up in a small beach town, this fabric reminds me of that time … the texture, the scent, the color. Viva JONI MITCHELL!

In the Bambara language, spoken in Mali, in the word BOGOLANFINI is a composition of three words. BOGO, meaning “earth” or “mud,” LAN, meaning “with” and FINI, meaning “cloth.” The word is translated as “mud cloth.” Again, the texture and imperfection of this natural textile is outstanding!
